  1. @CLS@Welcome to the TriBBS multinode TeleChat system.  You may have chatted
  2. with your sysop in the past using the system's normal chat mode.  Unlike
  3. the system's normal chat mode, which is a real time chatting system where
  4. keypresses are sent in both directions almost instantaneously, the TeleChat
  5. system uses a series of special disk files to send lines of text between two
  6. or more nodes a line at a time.

  8. The TriBBS TeleChat system offers two distinct types of multinode chat: node
  9. chat and group chat.  Node chat is where two nodes chat back and forth
  10. between each other.  To page another caller to enter node chat, you simply
  11. enter the desired caller's node number at the TeleChat menu.  As soon as you
  12. enter the node number, TriBBS will send the other caller a special message
  13. which states that you wish to chat with him.  You should be aware that it can
  14. often times take the other caller a minute or two to quit what they are
  15. currently doing, go to the TeleChat Menu, and enter your node number to begin
  16. chatting with you. As soon as the caller enters node chat, TriBBS will send you
  17. a message to that effect.  As stated above, text is sent back and forth between
  18. the two nodes a line at a time.  When entering text, TriBBS will automatically
  19. word wrap each line at sixty characters.  Because of this relatively short line
  20. length, lines of text are sent back and forth at a fairly quick rate and aid in
  21. the flow of the conversation.  You should note that while you are actually
  22. entering text TriBBS will not scan for any chat text from the other node until
  23. you have stopped entering text either by pressing the <ENTER> key or erasing
  24. whatever text is on the current line with the <BACKSPACE> key.  This is done
  25. so that the text you are typing won't be garbled by incoming messages.  You
  26. may leave chat mode by simply entering the word EXIT by itself.  As soon as
  27. you leave chat mode, the other caller will be informed by an appropriate
  28. message.

  30. Group chat is very similar to node chat except for any caller on any node can
  31. enter group chat at anytime.  Therefore, the number of callers in group chat
  32. at any one time is only limited by the BBS's number of nodes.  You should note
  33. that unlike node chat nobody is paged when you enter group chat.  However, like
  34. node chat, appropriate messages are sent to all nodes in group chat whenever a
  35. caller either enters or exits group chat.  Text entry is performed exactly as
  36. with node chat.
